Here it comes.

There was a lot of up and down about what we would do, but the paperwork has been completed and the withdrawal officially done. I am homeschooling the K'er, the 3rd grader AND the 6th grader.

We start tomorrow so we can take Tuesday off and still have a full week. On Tuesday the local schools start up. We will be celebrating Not Back to School Day instead.

We have everything we need except photocopies of a couple of outline maps and a back-up method of shooshing the dog while we're at the library, but we won't need those until Tuesday. We are schooling at the library in order to provide quiet for the housemate who works a filing cabinet away from our dining room. The dog often cries when we are all away. She's been doing better since I started distracting her as we walk out the door, but I'm not sure yet that will always work. I'm figuring a beep and buzz (not shock) collar will.

I am more nervous than I have been since the eldest's first official day of kindergarten. He loved that day. We were doing Waldorf/Core Knowledge, mostly. I remember drawing a picture in our main lesson books of the wolf coming down the chimney. The Scientist was so small and so delighted.

So good to be at it again. So deeply good. The Scientist was worried at the beginning of summer when I mentioned the possibility of withdrawing him from the school, but he is now looking forward to it. Maybe he missed us too.
