About this webring

The WTM ring is for the homeschooling related blogs or frequently updated websites of active members of The Well-Trained Mind Forums. It's intended to be an easy method of hopping around the web to see what we've all been up to.

Rules for membership in the ring

If you have fifty or more posts on the Forum, and maintain a blog or website devoted to family or homeschool matters, please join!

If you also blog about your business, that's fine. Just please don't join if you only blog about money-making pursuits, even if you make money by selling curriculum or other homeschool products. Commercial websites are not welcome. Personal websites that link to commercial websites are acceptable (so long as they are not static). E-mail me if you're not sure where your site lies.

Blogs of families of all belief systems and structures are welcome. If you have an issue with being linked to a blog post about a Wiccan family's religious celebrations, or if you don't want to be associated with a two dad homeschool, please don't join. This works the other way, too. If you don't want to be associated with Sarah Palin supporters, or don't want to be linked to a blog post about teaching young earth creationism, don't join.

How to join the webring

To join the ring, click here. You'll get a site ID and I'll get an e-mail saying you've joined. If you find the processing of joining tricky (and alt.webring isn't the most intuitive site), leave me a comment here. I can sign you up or walk you through it.

After you join, copy and paste the following code (provided as text on the alt.webring website, shown as a graphic below) into a widget for your blog sidebar.

The code is customizable.

Where it says YOURSITEID in the image to the left, the actual code you enter onto your blog widget will show your site ID in the code. Don't worry about that.

To make the widget less wide, find where it says, "table width='350'" Change the number. I used 150 for my blog's widget. Go ahead and mess with the number until you get it looking just right.

To make the widget a different color, find where it says, "background: #E3F2FF". Change that number to a color code that will look nice on your site. A list of color codes can be found here.

If there's something else you want changed (border size, font), and you can't figure it out, shoot me an e-mail. I can probably help.

Miscellaneous stuff

If your e-mail address or site URL changes, if you are going on a blog vacation or just don't want to be in the ring anymore, let me know, please. Also, if you find a dead link in the ring, contact me right away.
