"um, okay, there's just a dragon there and roll to see if he... snorts at you. yeah."

It's common knowledge that four- and five-year-olds have limited attention spans, right? I think it's bullhickey. The little guys at our house have been patiently and attentively following the eight-year-old's Dungeon Mastering (like being a storyteller, or god, or the maker-upper-of-rules-on-the-fly) in a screwball, random and slooow game of HeroScape. I gave up on it long before the little guys did. Sadly it's uncommon to know, in this age of early education, that small children have intense focus and extended attention spans when they're interested.
