privacy in education

Storyteller told me he was completely unwilling to memorize Jabberwocky, but every once in a while since then he walks through a room where I am doing something else and drops a few lines of it. I think he must have most of it by now. I wonder if I'll ever convince him to recite it front to back for me.

Meanwhile Hero continues to insist that he can not read, does not know any letters in his name, and can not tell you what the numbers one or zero look like. None of this is true. When alone or when coerced, he can read and write consonant-vowel-consonant word, his name, and the numbers one to twelve. It is just very important that I don't expect him to be able to do that.
