free love vs. Shakespeare
The Storyteller and I are reading Antony and Cleopatra, a dumbed down version. I had to explain that when Antony said, "I am not married, Caesar," he meant that he could consider marrying someone else. The boy was also, bless his heart, confounded by the assumption that Octavius makes that Antony's relationship with Octavia could threaten or replace Antony's feelings for Cleopatra. Storyteller has absorbed my values; the boy has a poly mindset. Also, he had a proper sense of horror when Octavius bequeaths his sister to Antony without so much as mentioning the possibility to her. Phew.
