the goddess of chaos in literature

the Scientist: "Mama? The Golden Apple?"

Me: "You mean Eris'?"

the Scientist: "Yeah."

Me: "Yeah?"

the Scientist: "It's here?"

Me: "Here? Where?"

"No, I mean, The Golden Apple."

"Eris' golden apple?"

"Is it here?"

"What?!"

The Scientist began to take deep breaths.

Me: "What do you mean?"

the Scientist: "The chapter, The Golden Apple."

"From the Iliad!"*

"Yeah."

Me: "Let's go make an offering before you read that."

*Actually a chapter in Rosemary Sutcliff's retelling of the Iliad, the best one for children who want the meat of it.
